Harry,
I downloaded this book and read it from cover to cover in around ten minutes. Much of what I found I already knew BUT I only know what I know because I have been a member of a $1000 training, and a $97 a month membership site for around two months.
The book SEO Lies by Justin Brooke is probably the best value you can find on the Internet. ‘The Boat’ is an especially good method.
But it is imperative for people wanting to have any on-line success to APPLY what the book says. For example no one is searching for Stephen Bray, or Alex Jeffreys, or Harry Harris. What they search for are ‘cheap lawnmower repair’, ‘mail order lobsters’, and lots of X certificated terms.
Justin really spells this out, so if people are trying to rank highly for ‘Internet marketing’ as a term via their blogs they’re wasting their time.
They may get traffic if the go for a phrase such as ‘Isle of Man internet marketing services company’, and some related but equally specific and searched for content.
On the other hand Alex’s method of getting visitors is based upon true relationships, rather than SEO and this is the true strength of Web 2.0.

Glad you enjoyed the book and I felt the same…so much so it has convinced me that the MESSAGE is the thing and not just the SITE….I want people to find what it is I have to say…not just this blog and trying to optimize it for every possible keyword is impossible…I love the Boat and Fishing Rod illustration too…I agree – well worth the read.
Believe me too I will be taking action on getting my rods into as many ponds as I can…..genius stuff!
