“Let’s start at the very beginning..” – Goals for 2009

I know, I know…but my girls love The Sound of Music and when I sat down to plan how I am going to shine in 2009 the above words were all that came into my head!

I think I have, as many of us newbies , been suffering from information overload and I cannot seem to find the time to do all the things that I want to do…(between watching repeats of The Sound of Music)….anyway, moving swiftly along!

After watching my estemed mentor Mr Alex Jeffreys and his latest video on his blog about planning and predictions I have set about with the task of planning my 2009 and getting it from my head onto paper – or mindmap!

The greatest thing about this is the realization that just because it is January the 14th (at time of writing) it doesn’t have to mean that I have to have it all planned out.  So I have decided to be more strategic…..I have done more in the  last 6 weeks than in the last year – so Harry Happy!

On a daily basis I will also be using the Gary Simpsons brilliant eBook that I will be making good use of…and I recommend you do the same – I will show you how I have been using it as I move forward.

I also want to be able to formulate a task list of best practise based on the results that I have already achieved and will yet achieve.

Next few days….

I am going to rewatch my own review of the Alex Jeffreys Coaching Program Module #1Review to give it its official title (and get it onto YouTube etc – had my account suspended by blip.tv, more on that later – I did nothing wrong I promise!) and retrace my steps and fill in the gaps.

I am also gonna do my Video for the $1500 prize form Alex so that is high priority for me….

Fellow Students…..

I must say, I really admire the likes of Garry Parkes, Gary Simpson (as mentioned previously), JT Martin, Nigel Yip, Mark Austin, Nikki Stephens (who has mastered Twitter!) to name but a few of our wonderful fellow students….they obviously know what they are doing (and seem to have been at it a while) and have taken the internet by storm….

But what if you, like me, are sturggling with all the information?  What if you feel snowed under?  What if you feel that you have not achieved anywhere near what others are doing?

Don’t worry! My message for myself and for you dear reader today is:“Don’t Sweat – Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day!”

Who are you doing this for anyway? Alex?  No…for you!  And here’s a shocker – I am doing this for me and MY family….so I just need to do this in such a way that I don’t get distracted by others – but inspired by them…one of my clear objectives in 2009 is to provide tremendous value, to hold nothing back, to give, give and give some more….

……(hence the links to others in this blog – I want you to go there, ’cause there is good stuff on those sites – but if you like me you will work with me, and I know that – and while we are on it I don’t believe in the law of attraction and all that – we gotta work for it, but you can’t say the wrong thing to the right person, so if we are gonna take this journey together we will, because it’s a fit and feels right – why did I sign up with Alex and not someone else?  Because he is the right man for the job….for me and many others!)…….

So, Remember “Forward to Basics” - Build that Foundation!  (again if you have to!).  Keep at it and we will all be successful!  I heard recently that Tiger Woods went back and learned a new technique – it put him back for a while but he was willing to take the risk to get it right- so I am too!

I know that I have been doing a TON of stuff wrong – from SEO to time management as well as other things including getting involved a bit more actively with other students (although I have given of my time and resources where I can, the Class of 2008 video being an example!) – that’s why I am going to take the time to plan and be strategic about what I am doing – I am so exited you cannot believe it!

So as Maria said: “Let’s start at the very beginning; a very good place to start…….”

    Hey Harry

I just had to comment on this part in relation to me – you said above:

“…they obviously know what they are doing (and seem to have been at it a while)…”

Er, no (I know I only speak for myself here!). But thank you for the compliment! If I’m managing to look like I have even a vague idea about what I’m doing then it’s down to all the people that have helped me – who are also mentioned in your post above, but you have also helped! So give yourself a pat on the back!

    Hi Harry,

Hey, your great to follow on Twitter mate – You find out things that have been posted on my blog before I do and let me know, LOL!

Thank you very much for the mention and kind words in your post above. It’s great that people see me as competent at what I do. I’ve certainly only been doing this since the Alex Jeffreys course started though. First time I have ever Blogged, so it shows how far you can come in such a short space of time. I had 10 years of trying scheme after scheme and getting nowhere (but those weren’t wasted years as I was obviously acquiring skills and knowledge that it is only now I can put to full use.

The instant I signed up with Alex Jeffreys that all changed. In fact it was just before that when I read Gurus Dream that I absolutely knew I was the problem and I had to change to make a success of things. There was no point blaming anyone and anything else. You see in hindsight some of the products I bought were good but I didn’t know it at the time and abandoned them at the first hurdle.

So the breakthrough for me, wasn’t technical skills, wasn’t time, wasn’t money, wasn’t lack or desire. It was lack of commitment and focus. We all have to stretch beyond our own personal comfort zones and make progress at our own speeds. That will be different for all of us, but only you as an individual will know deep down if you are stretching yourself. So it is not about comparing yourself to what others have achieved but against what you have achieved yourself from day to day, week to week etc. Like you say, “Rome wasn’t built in a Day” and if everyone keeps that at the forefront of their own mind than everyone can achieve at doing this Internet Marketing.

Each of us has to remove those personal blocks that have been holding us back. I did. And I can see you are too Harry. In fact, Harry you know something about me personally that really only one other knew about that was a big mental block for me. Breaking through that barrier has allowed me to really breakout. Can you think what it is? Post on my blog if you if you like and then I will tell all :-)

    Harry

Solving information overload is the same as eating an elephant.
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Chop it up into steps, prioritize the steps and do the first one.

I know it can be easler said than done, but it can be done

    Hi Harry,
Great post. We’re all learning and helping each other best we can to build strong business foundations.

I like your openness about your goals and going back to the basics. I am finding my focus and Nigel’s comment on my blog was a great help to hear how he does it.

Am I too lake with my photo for your project? The link doesn’t seem to work.

    All the best,
    Theresa

  5. Paull Hamilton Says:

Hi Harry, I can certainly empathize with what you are saying about the amount of work and information we have to absorb. I have felt sometimes that I am never going to see progress in comparison to the number of hours I put in, but I am ever hopeful and feel sure it will all come good in the end. I just wish ‘the end’ would come a bit sooner thats all! I am still full of enthusiasm, and am determined that I will achieve success however much time or effort it takes. I see others make a success and I think to myself – if they can do it, so can I.

    Garry

Wow – passionate post there! Very clear and in fact has given me a kick up the ar*e – I need to go & read Gurus Dream again as I was so motivated having read that, and recently that’s all started to slip. What can I say – I’m human! (Although sometimes I’m not so sure…).

    Anyway, thanks!

Harry, sorry for using your blog to talk to Garry – I seem to be making a habit of using other people’s blogs to talk to different people!
